Andreia Monico

I have received my Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Coimbra in June 2012.

During two years, I worked as a fellow in a research project titled “Optimization of P-glycoprotein modulators and insights into the efflux mechanism”, integrated in the Natural Products Chemistry group, at the Research Institute for Medicines (iMed.Lisboa), Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon.

Since April of 2016, I am involved in an european network called MASSTRPLAN and my project is “Characterization of structural proteins as targets for oxidized lipids”, which work is being performed in the laboratory of Dolores Pérez-Sala at the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas (CIB, CSIC).

Regarding this project, the main objectives are structural and functional characterization of novel types of posttranslational modifications, such as lipoxidation in cytoskeletal proteins, identification of novel protein targets for modification and study of the pathophysiological consequences of oxidative post-translational modifications.
